Brief Overview about Emasithandane

Emasithandane Children's Project is a home for orphaned and other vulnerable children, situated in Nyanga, one of the townships boasting the highest crime rate not only in the Western Cape, but the entire South Africa. The children living in and around this township have little (if any) hope of beating the odds and becoming successful young adults.  It therefore becomes even more of a hustle for those children that are orphans with no parents/guardians to look after them and provide the necessary care and guidance.

It is for the above mentioned reasons that Mama Zelphina Maposela, a renowned community development worker, decided to open an orphanage home for the children of her HIV/AIDS stricken patience who were, at the time, fighting for their lives with no strength to look after the children.  Mama (as Mrs Maposela is know in her neighborhood), was previously a health care giver where she gave home-based care towards patients suffering from tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS.

Emasithandane was established in 1994, with three HIV/AIDS orphans being under the care of Mama Maposela and now the home has grown and gives care to a total number of  47 children.
Emasithandane, despite the constantly growing number children residing at the home, does not have  a stable source of funding.

To assist Mama Maposela and the Emasithandane Children's Project, we as the FWV have decided to do the following:
